KAZ-SATSUGAI
2006.07.12 HYDE in Anime Expo
Anaheim, California. On July 1, 2006, hundreds of fans gathered in front of the special stage set up by Tofu Records at Anime Expo, North America’s largest anime & manga convention. They had been eagerly waiting for the arrival of one of Japan’s most recognized rock artist, HYDE, who had just made his US debut with his latest album FAITH, to be followed by a four-day American west coast tour.
The announcement of HYDE's scheduled appearance came from Tofu Records' website only nine days before the actual event. Fans were asked to submit questions to HYDE, and he would answer selected ones while on stage. Only the date and location of the event were announced, and the actual time had been kept secret. So some fans showed up as early as noon, when the doors to the Exhibit Hall opened at Anime Expo, to assure themselves a chance and the best seats to witness the first US public appearance of their favorite artist.
Their wait was paid off at around 4:30pm, when HYDE finally made his way into Anaheim Convention Center. As he approached the stage through a barricade of security and staff members, the MC led the crowd to start counting down from ten. As the countdown reached zero, HYDE found himself on stage in front of hundreds of screaming fans from all over the country. Even some of his most dedicated fans from Japan were in the audience. After blowing a kiss to his excited fans, HYDE calmly took his seat while the crowd continued to cheer on.
"Hello!"
Sometimes the simplest greeting might be the best way to get an instant response. HYDE seemed a bit speechless when he saw this many fans welcoming him, but he immediately thanked the audience for coming. He continued to explain that he had grown up listening to American music, and therefore he was really glad to have been able to release his album in America.
When asked about whether he had plans to make any soundtrack albums for anime or action movies in the future, HYDE replied that he actually had more interest in directing a movie or animation, prompting immediate cheers from the audience. When asked what the message was for his latest album FAITH, HYDE described it as "love and death."
As the lead singer of the popular band L’Arc~en~Ciel, who is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, HYDE was asked to described the differences between being part of a band and being a solo artist.
"In a band," HYDE said, "all the members collaborate their ideas together, so the end result was not always something I had expected. But as a solo artist, everything comes out the way I imagined and expected. So that would be the main difference." Later on, he described that if there were no L’Arc~en~Ciel, there would be no HYDE. So everything that had happened to him in his life was part of his inspiration when creating his songs.
When HYDE was asked whether the way he wrote his lyrics now had changed at all from his younger days, HYDE told us that he used to draw pictures of the songs before writing his lyrics, but he didn't have to do that anymore nowadays. Sometimes when he looked back at the lyrics that he had written years ago, he would realize that those lyrics talked about exactly the same things that he wanted to relay now. So he didn’t think it was any different at all.
HYDE seemed puzzled when asked to describe the factors that affected his clothing style. Seeing how he was having a hard time to come up with an answer, the MC reworded the question, and asked HYDE how he picked his clothes that day instead.
"Today... I first chose my pants, and then I decided what could go with that." HYDE responded quite simply, but the crowd loved his answer. HYDE also tried to recall the place he went shopping the day before, but in the end, he could not remember. The audience, however, was very amused by the look on his face. He also revealed that he went inline-skating.
At the end of the Q&A segment, HYDE expressed his worries and excitement at the same time towards his first US tour, but he hoped that the experience would be great, and if his American fans could keep supporting him, he would be able to come back for more.
Before HYDE left, he drew several lucky winners from a jar of raffle tickets and autographed a big poster that had been hanging at the back of the stage. He sent the crowd into frenzy again by blowing kisses and by slightly lowering his sunglasses to look at the crowd for a few short moments. As he exited the stage, fans were still in awe that they had just seen one of Japan’s biggest rock star with their own eyes.

Anaheim,California。
2008.08.08 VAMPS-HYDE's Message
HYDE’s Diary: The Tour Has Begun
HYDE's Diary:
Everything is going smoothly so far, and the show already sounds good. If we keep this up, I will be very happy by the end.
Sendai is currently in the midst of their Tanabata festival, although we do not have a chance to enjoy the festivities or fireworks. All things considered though, it is a great time to be here while it is both hot and cool.
Oh yeah, last month we went on a rehearsal retreat of sorts.
A cooler place, high-up in the country.
We left Tokyo so we could prepare for the tour, allow the members to bond, and to relax. We woke-up early, to keep fit, but during the night we drank like crazy. Towards the evening we could hear locusts buzzing… it was like the playstation game "boku no natsuyasumi" (my summer vacation). We also had fun smashing watermelons (a Japanese game of being blindfolded and trying to hit a watermelon… much like a piñata).
It was very cool.
The only problem was, rock n'roll and that countryside don't exactly match.
So the rehearsal ended and we came back to Tokyo. But every time I travel this route, either in a car or train, the same thoughts come to mind…
it's kind of like a time-warp
Looking out the window, you see the countryside surrounded by the mountains, then bridges, and then country houses, soon the roads start to multiply and the scenery phases into small towns. And in the end you reach the metropolis of Tokyo. Feels like watching centuries of Japanese history… in a few hours. You don't actually see flying cars like in the manga of Tezuka Osamu, but Tokyo is pretty close. So this is the present and this is where/when we live… for better or worse.
So these feelings came to me again as I traveled… but only for a moment.
I've got tons to do…
What's next…
In other news, this VAMPS Myspace site has passed the half-million site views mark... thanks everyone. It is my goal to be at a million before the end of the VAMPS tour though, so I will keep on bugging the band for blogs, keep digging-up new info, and even get to another survey or two possibly... so keep coming back and share the love. Don't forget to write where you are from though... the more fans from the same country (not always the same fans) could inspire VAMPS to go tour there (just an idea, who knows what motivates rock stars!?). Just don't be shy. I am not going say this again, you starting sharing the love or I'm telling mom! Share it!!!
2007.07.12 HYDE interview in USA California
© JaME
© JaME / Mimi Ko
Even in the middle of his current Japan tour, HYDE took some time to come to America, to promote his album FAITH, which was released in the US on June 27, 2006 by Tofu Records. A 4-day California tour was also scheduled in early July. Furthermore, he made a special appearance at the Tofu Records booth during Anime Expo to greet his US fans.
Shortly before that event, JaME had the pleasure of interviewing him. Wearing his sunglasses that day, HYDE dressed himself casually in a two-tone denim jacket with two tank tops underneath, and a pair of khaki-colored pants.
Very nice to meet you.
HYDE: Nice to meet you. I'm HYDE.
Welcome to America. How is it like to be back?
HYDE: It's rainy season in Japan right now, and the weather is very beautiful here. So I really like it.
Have you always wanted to release your solo album in the United States?
HYDE: Yes, of course.
Every song in the three solo albums that you have released so far has a title in English. Do you enjoy writing songs in English?
HYDE: The music that I usually listen to is English language music. That’s why I try to write English lyrics as well.
How do you decide whether to write certain lyrics in English versus in Japanese?
HYDE: It depends on the song's atmosphere. But English lyrics are easier to put on melodies, so for example, in the main parts of my songs, I would tend to use more English.
But weren't you afraid that your Japanese audience might not understand the English lyrics? And in this case, because this album is also released in the US, and so some of your American fans may not be able to understand the Japanese?
HYDE: Hmm... It's probably true that some fans may not be able to understand the lyrics, but it’s not really one of my worries. I don't really mind. Sometimes even when I listen to a Japanese song, I don’t understand the lyrics either. So I’m not too worried about that.
In America, religion is a pretty sensitive topic. And the word "FAITH" has always been closely linked to religion. Why did you choose this name for your album?
HYDE: I was intending to write about religion in my songs. That's why I wanted to make the title easy to understand.
Your first album was recorded in the UK, and now "FAITH" in Los Angeles. How come you wanted to pick these places to record these albums?
HYDE: For the first album, the producer that I wanted to use was in UK, which was why I went there. But for this time, the main reason I chose LA was the sound. I wanted to achieve the LA hard-rock sound very much, so in order to get close to it, the only way was to come to LA to record the album.
The song "COUNTDOWN" was used as the Japanese theme song of the Hollywood motion picture "STEALTH". Can you tell us your inspiration about this song?
HYDE: When I made the song, I didn't get to see the whole movie. I only saw the preview of it, so I didn't know the whole story. But I wanted to create the image of jets flying. And the main message that I wanted to get across was peace.
In the song "SEASON’S CALL", you wrote "yume ni egaku sekai wo kimi no me no mae ni hirogetai". Can you describe to us this world that you wanted to paint in your dream?
HYDE: (smiling at my attempt to read his lyrics in Japanese) That would be a world of peace. When I think of the important people that I love in my life, I don’t want them to see the evil side of the world. So that would be a world of peace.
What is your favorite song of the "FAITH" album?
HYDE: I love all of them, but if I have to pick one, it would be JESUS CHRIST.
If not for the song "IT’S SAD", the album would have ended on a happy note quite literally with the song "MISSION". Why did you choose to put a song that describes the "worst creatures in history" at the very end? (Note: The song "MISSION" describes an ideal world without borders, where music will guide us all in harmony.)
HYDE: Like you said, if I had changed the order of the two songs around, it would have been the perfect order and would have fitted very well. But it would have been too normal. I wanted the album to have thorns in it. I wanted people to be aware. And I didn't want to relay a lie, so in order to show the real world, I put IT’S SAD at the end.
What are your expectations for the upcoming U.S. concerts?
HYDE: I have listened to American music and have seen a lot of footage of American concerts. I'm hoping I can create something similar in terms of the high level of energy.
How do you feel about coming to perform in the U.S. right after your last show at Hiroshima in Japan?
HYDE: While I was there, it was something that really made me think... (pause) And that’s really all I can say... It was... a heavy feeling.
Why did you have angel wings tattooed on your back?
HYDE: I wanted to become an angel. (All of us burst out in laughter.)
But you also like "666".
HYDE: People always want things that they don't have. I wanted something I don't have, which was the wings, so that I could become an angel.
The founder of JaME named his son after you. Is there anything you would like to say to him?
HYDE: He'll probably grow up and be like an angel.
Last but not least, could you please say a few words to your fans in America?
HYDE: Right now we're on tour and it's just the American section, but in a way it feels like this is a final. I’m really excited to see if I can make it here in the US. It's a challenge to me, and I'm really looking forward to it.
Thank you very much for your time.
HYDE: Thank you.
2006.12.7 Hyde
采访(以下简称R),Hyde(以下简称H)
L'Arc~en~Ciel- 'ASIA LIVE'' LIVE REPORT
L'Arc~en~Ciel live reportLIVE REPORT - 11.19.2005 Author : Non-Non A live report of L'Arc~en~Ciel's 'ASIALIVE 2005live' at Tokyo Dome on September 24th.
The arena seats, including the first and second floor seats were all filled to capacity for L'Arc~en~Ciel’s latest performance at the Tokyo Dome. The stage setup consisted of a big drum set on a raised area in the centre of the stage, guitar on the right, bass on the left and a microphone stand in the center of the stage in front of the drum set. Huge screens which were to project the performance were set up on either side of the stage.
Following the introduction, the band appeared. hyde, with his long straight hair, wore a sleeveless jacket with a black see-through shirt beneath. tetsu wore a shirt with a raised collar over a white T-shirt. ken was wearing a black jacket over a white T-shirt, whilst yukihiro simply wore a white T-shirt.
The concert began with the song Killing Me, which was followed directly by Promised land. The next song Driver's High began with the sound of a car engine and a myriad of fireworks lit up the stage. The concert was highly energetic from the very beginning.
hyde blew a kiss to the audience and said, "I’ve come here to make love to you! I’ll give you ecstasy tonight!" The audience cried out in response as if as one. Then in reply to hyde'’s signal, the audience copied his movements and the gestures spread out through the crowd like a wave.
The next song snow drop changed the pace of the concert completely. ken's guitar sounded especially heartrending against the blue light stage effects. The concentrated intensity was sustained through the next song winter fall and the effect was truly mesmerizing!
After the emotion of the previous songs the tone of the concert suddenly changed. At the start of Caress of Venus, tetsu and hyde moved to the left, and the audience responded with the same wave of motion and sound they had performed before. During HEAVEN'S DRIVE, hyde played guitar intensely while singing and shouting along with the bass which was producing incredible and rapidly-changing sounds.
Between songs at the microphone, ken took off his jacket; and looked relaxed as he smoked a cigarette. Soon after hyde returned to the microphone and said "This is a song which I wrote thanks to the kindness of the people during the GRAND CROSS TOUR". He then introduced the song LOVE FLIES. Hyde and ken’s performance during this song was nothing less than fantastic.
During the next song Jojoushi, an image of a dragon flying among clouds in the serene blue sky was projected on the back screen of the stage. After Joujoushi the atmosphere on the stage changed dramatically. A mystical atmosphere was generated by the intense flame flashing on the stage during get out from the shell and the upbeat song New World.
hyde sang and played his guitar powerfully throughout the next song Jiyuu e no Shoutai during the song the cute devil mascot of the band "CIEL" appeared.
The following MC break involved tetsu talking casually to the audience. He told a story about the band’s recent Asian tour. He explained "We stayed on the 50th floor of our hotel in Shanghai, and we worried about the building shaking during a typhoon!"
The band then pretended to start the song smoke on the walk and the audience went wild! But this was only a tease before the next song. LOST HEAVEN, during which a mirror ball emerged over the stage. ken removed his sunglasses, and as he played his guitar, hyde's low, husky voice sounded incredibly sensual.
The show continued as the audience enjoyed the rapid, upbeat song STAY AWAY. Once again CIEL made an appearance as a big balloon. tetsu then reappeared from offstage with a banana, which he proceeded to use on his bass guitar to create unusual noises. When he had finished he threw the banana into the audience. In the mean time ken had decided to change his guitar to the beautiful flower patterned black guitar, he then stood on the amplifier and pointed to the audience.
During the upbeat music of READY STEADY GO hyde shouted to the audience "Are you fuckin' ready?" and on cue fireworks shot up at the back of the stage. The band members then ran to either side of the stage as the ultimate climax of the night’s performance began. yukihiro's drumming was loud and impressive during his drum solo. And in appreciation tetsu raised his bass over his head proudly in triumph at the end of the song.
As a special treat for the audience, the band members appeared in the arena on electric cars normally used for pitcher changes during baseball games. They threw coloured balls into the audience before completing their little journey around the stage set through to the back of the arena. It was then time for the fun parody show to begin. TETSU P'UNK, the main vocalist, put on a bright yellow T-shirt and headed for the microphone. The audience roared with laughter when he said "Thank you L'Arc~en~Ciel for the opening performance! We are the main act P'UNK~EN~CIEL!". The parody band then played two songs milky way and Round and Round 2005 with HYDE P'UNK on guitar, KEN P'UNK on drums, and YUKI P'UNK on bass. HYDE P'UNK, had covered his left eye with an eye patch and headbanged violently as he played his guitar.
The crazy P'UNK~EN~CIEL then left the stage in their electric cars. As soon as they left the stage the front projection screen lit up displaying 'LNN L’Arc NEWS'. The "news" report was actually a montage of video clips taken from the band’s recent Asian tour. The audience laughed at the humorous and highly unusual situations that the band members were involved in during their tour. There was a clip of hyde being challenged to eat a live octopus. Another amusing scene showed ken, at the microphone, silencing the audience in astonishment as he said "I was killing five birds at the hotel yesterday"! instead of his intended statement of "I was playing gobang game at the hotel yesterday."
After the "newscast" the band members appeared back on stage to perform once again as L'Arc~en~Ciel for the upbeat song PARADE. During the song a series of clips from the band’s past appearances played on the projection screens. It seemed that hyde was a little embarrassed at seeing the footage. It was fun to see him playing harmonica for a while during the song.
The show was now moving to conclusion and during the next song HONEY a large number of vinyl balls with balloons inside them were released into the hall and among the audience.
Next was the traditional band introductions, each band member was addressed by their uniform number, and was asked a question by the announcer. yukihiro took the opportunity to express his feelings in his short speech "I’m so impressed at the conditions here now, because I remember that my first live performance in L'Arc~en~Ciel was here in the Tokyo Dome", where he stated the lighting had affected his eyes. tetsu then threw a large number of bananas into the audience, and ken pretended to take his toy lizard that he bought in Korea across the stage for a walk. When hyde was asked to say "I love you" in Korean, he instead sang smoke on a walk with a rough voice to conceal his embarrassment.
After the song Link, yukihiro took his turn at the microphone to talk before the stage mirror ball once again started to turn as hyde sang Hitomi no Juunin His performance was especially notable as he showed his excellent vocal range with great effect.
The start of the final song Niji was heralded by a cascade of white feathers falling about hyde as he stood illuminated by a bright spotlight. hyde’s voice, gentle and soulful in this song, added an extra element to this ballad for the audience, as did his attire and lyrics.
In conclusion the, ASIALIVE 2005 Tokyo Dome live performance was completely different from the AWAKE TOUR 2005 as the latter had a strong moral message, namely peace. The band left out extra effects and props, and delivered a relatively simple, low-key performance overall, despite being on such a large stage. They seemed confident in their performance and music.
The moment hyde appears on stage and begins singing, the audience is immediately captivated. hyde is a truly talented artist who gives the impression of having true genius. His intriguing lyrics paint a dark and mysterious world, but his charisma never ceases to draw people in.
ken plays guitar with considerable emotion, and makes dual impact with his unique combination of guitar and voice. It is certainly noteworthy that he never changes his attitude, which was clearly shown as he smoked onstage at the Tokyo Dome in front of more than 10000 people!
tetsu plays bass intensely and plays complicated melodies with ease. yukihiro must be greatly praised as he plays the drums with considerable technical precision. The band’s solid rhythm section provides a strong foundation for the musical framework of L'Arc~en~Ciel. Once again, it reminds us that their music, which creates a reaction in many people, is based on their excellent technical skills.
It is especially admirable that the band members compose their own sections of the band’s music, showing obvious musical technical ability which is indeed a great credit to the band.
The music of L'Arc~en~Ciel will continue on!

L'Arc-en-Ciel 2005 Asia live
Get out from the shell和接着的New World被剧烈地火焰发射带出了神秘气氛。
随着READY STEADY GO的音乐响起,Hyde向观众大叫:“Are you fuckin ready?"
乐队表演了2首歌,milky way和Round and Round 2005,吉他手是HYDE P'UNK,鼓手KEN P'UNK,贝司手YUKI P'UNK。
L'Arc-en-Ciel

VAMPS-TIME GOES BY
VAPMS-TIME GOES BY
Do you remember that day?
And the time goes by
I am still alive now
In this kind of world
Aah, how silly
But even out of breath, I can still run
Lightning up my engine getting started
I'm racing forwards until this confusing season will pass away
While inside my heart, I'm secretly thinking of you
Do you remember that day?
I'm closing my eyes because of the blinding light
But the after-image is there, getting in the way
Like a sudden drop that falls on my heart
In a moment the thoughts I was suppressing are brimming over
And now every scenery is full of you
I keep staring beyond that frozen time
I loved how gently you seemed to embrace my pain
I'm racing forwards until this confusing season will pass away
While inside my heart, I'm secretly thinking of you
2008.08.10 VAMPS KAZ's Message
Message from K.A.Z
Hi Everybody-
We started the tour, and having a lot of fun so far. The first day I was worried about my foot, but as soon as we started the show, the adrenaline "kicked-in", and I felt no pain.
After the show though, the adrenaline went away, and the pain came. Now, it still hurts a little, but not during the show, and getting better everyday. Thank you for all your nice messages and love.
Sendai was great. The weather was perfect, the cow tongue (famous in Sendai) was delicious, and fans were also delicious… just kidding! It was nice being able to stay in the same city for a week, we had a chance to relax and really get to know Sendai. Now I am looking forward to Sapporo, another city with great food, but not humid.
Also, last night we played a show in Osaka, at Summer Sonic festival. We had some problems with the guitar system, and had to use a back-up system for the show, but the show was great fun. So many fans came to see us, which made me more excited to come back to Osaka at the end of next month. This is the summer of VAMPS.
Like a vampire, we feed off the energy of the fans, so come see us and make some noise!
Oh, one more thing, there is a movie coming out here based on the famous manga, Detroit Metal City (D.M.C.). I did the theme song for the movie, the single is called "Satsugai", and has just been released... so please check it out!
Love,
K.A.Z
In other news, 2 more shows were just added to VAMPS schedule, HALLOWEEN LIVE 2008 events on October 30th, and 31st! For those of you keeping track, that is 46 shows + Summer Sonic + 2 Halloween Shows… 49 SHOWS in 92 DAYS (or 1.07 shows every 2 days)!
Also, VAMPS interview with JaME was just uploaded on their site... VAMPS first interview in English. Please check it out at JaME, but please come back once you're done... we need to feed off you!
Truly the summer of VAMPS.

K.A.Z
